As for George Orwell, I didn't like 1984 much, but I believe he once said this in an interview or in his book or somewhere: "Who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past." Meaning you must learn from the past, in order to control your own future. In realtion to 1984, you're supposed to have learned that government should not control all aspects.
